Casa do Sol is not a hotel and never has been. The villa is rented exclusively to a single party — never shared, never overlapping — so the pool, the sauna, the terraces and the kitchen are yours, undisturbed, for the length of your stay.

The architecture is the work of a Porto-based studio that spent three years restoring the original 1950s stone barn while introducing floor-to-ceiling glazing, radiant underfloor heating and a discreet outdoor sauna. Materials are local — Vila Real granite, hand-thrown Bisalhães pottery, linen woven in nearby Guimarães. The result is a property that feels rooted in Northern Portugal yet calibrated to international standards.

For larger occasions — birthdays, milestone anniversaries, intimate weddings — we work with a small network of trusted local partners: a private chef from the Douro, a sommelier who curates Vinho Verde and Port flights, and a yoga teacher who runs sunrise sessions on the terrace.
